EXPLORE SOLAR DATA
Photovoltaic technology uses devices called solar cells
to change light energy directly into electrical energy. Many cells
make up one panel. Two or more panels make an array or system.
Each system is given a rating based on a one-time test
performed by the manufacturer. This performance rating tells us how
much energy the system could produce under ideal conditions.
But photovoltaic arrays rarely operate under ideal conditions. Their
output is almost always less than their rating.
What factors affect the power output of a PV system? Explore
data from actual solar sites to find out.
